Kerry Kennedy in Sarajevo at a high-level meeting

The Shared Society and Values Foundation Sarajevo hosted the High-Level Meeting “EU Future for the Western Balkans and Human Rights – Speak Truth to Power” in cooperation with the President of the Robert F. Kennedy Foundation for Human Rights rights (RFK HR), Ms. Kerry Kennedy and Nizami Ganjavi International Center (NGIC).

The gathering was dedicated to the integration of the Western Balkans from the aspect of human rights from the EU and NATO perspective, but also from the angle of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Introductory speeches were given by N.E. Šefik Džaferović, member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mladen Ivanić, a former member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Jakob Finci, President of the Interreligious Council of BiH and President of the Jewish Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

From foreign participants, in addition to Ms. Kennedy, Mr. Yves Leterme, former Prime Minister of Belgium, Mrs. Jadranka Kosor, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia also addressed.

The gathering was an opportunity to discuss a human rights education initiative aimed at building a future generation of human rights leaders and activists. Using human rights stories and experiences from around the world, RFK HR provides young people with the tools they need to confront and speak out against the most horrific human rights abuses and violations in the world.
